A cabinetmaker makes cabinets,desks and chair and all kinds of furniture.The colonial cabinetmaker needed a good eye and artigtic skill to make handsome furniture.The lathe was an important tool.Connected to a wheel,the lathe helped a cabinetmaker shape round chair legs from a wood block.the cabinemaker measure the chair legs with calipers to make sure they were all the same thinkness .a chair took about 35 hours to make.some beatiful colonial  furniture is still in use today.
